Pathway to Healing—Step 8: Share Your Story with Someone You Trust
Encouragement
Sharing your story with someone safe helps you see it from new perspectives. Hearing feedback from others can reveal insights you hadn’t noticed, making your story feel more whole.
Spiritual Practice: Sacred Listening Practice
Before sharing, take a few breaths together, setting an intention for deep listening. As you speak, think of offering your story as a gift. When they respond, listen with an open heart, as if receiving a gift in return. This creates a sacred space of connection and respect.
Creative Writing Exercise
Choose one memory and share it with a trusted friend or group. Ask them to listen without interrupting, and then share what they heard. Pay attention to their reflections and any insights that arise from seeing your story through their eyes.
Non-Writing Creative Exercise: Story Stones
Gather several small stones, and use paint or markers to draw symbols or colors that represent different parts of your story. Sit with a trusted person and take turns sharing what each stone represents, explaining how it connects to your journey. This tactile exercise offers a way to share your story visually, and you can keep these stones as tokens of the experience.
